Whats In My Camera Bag 2022

VK.Photographyyy

hi!! Viviana here. I want to start by saying that all the equipment listed below is not what I started with and it took time to acquire it all. With that being said I will also be listing out the equipment that I started with and items that may be a bit more in range with a new photographer's budget. This information will be in a different blog titled “My Beginner Bag”.

You’ll be getting the inside scoop about all my travel photography gear and accessories, straight from me!

I started travel photography a little over two years ago in the summer of 2020 with nothing but an iPhone and old camera, which means there’s nothing stopping you from doing the same on your adventures right now. However  if you’re looking to make photography a career or everyday part of your life then you’ll need to invest in some quality camera gear. Hopefully you’ll find what's in my camera bag helpful and inspiring for your own adventures!

Camera Bag

Regardless of the equipment you end up with, the first thing you’ll need is a sturdy reliable camera bag to keep your equipment safe. I opted for the flip side BP 300 AW III. Having upped my equipment, the small camera bag that my old cameras came in was not doing the trick anymore. It’s capable of fitting all of my camera gear (except my gimbal) so it’s great for everyday photography and video adventures.

Depending on what equipment you have, you can organize your bag how you like since the separators can be easily adjusted to fit. One of my favorite things about this bag is its main zipper facing your back. This means that your equipment is not exposed to falling out and is rather tucked more into you allowing for a safer way to travel. This bag also contains a tripod carrier on the side. Meaning it has a slot and a clip to keep it on you at all times. This is perfect when traveling as you are able to have your hands free especially if you vlog or are looking to get into vlogging. This bag also contains compartments on the sides closest to your bag that hold a computer and an iPad. This is perfect if traveling on the plane and can only bring one carry on backpack. Other compartments can be found in the front and can hold small items like an iPhone, business cards etc. A big Plus, is that it's made out of seriously sturdy material that handles life on the road and even is made of fully waterproof material for an added layer of protection

Cameras

Sony a7r3

As a full-time travel photographer, the A7R III was perfect for my needs. Below are a few reasons for my upgrade and why I’m completely satisfied with my decision.

  • This lens is a life saver because it allows for great quality photos in low light situations. This is perfect for weddings and events that may be done outside or even inside hotels. This is by far one of my favorite features this camera includes.

  •  The new screen flips out which helps me frame my photos a lot easier when in tight places or uncomfortable situations. The flip-out screen is also very helpful when shooting vertically, or in tight locations and uncomfortable positions.

  • 42.4 Megapixels is the perfect sweet spot as it allows me to crop in on my photo and keep the quality.

Nikon Z50

This camera was the perfect upgrade from my Canon and has so many features I love!

  • The first feature is the camera screen. The camera screen comes out completely and tilts up and down. This is amazing when shooting in tight spaces and awkward positions.

  • This Camera is also very light weight and compact making it a super versatile lens and a great second shooter. Because of the camera's compatibility it is great to have on your side when using your main camera for weddings or events. I love this camera as my second shooter because it makes it easy to switch to a good quality camera with a different lens without lowering quality during the event.

  • The megapixels is 20.9 which is half of what the Sony gives but is still a large upgrade in quality and is realistically the range you want to be in when considering photography as your profession.

Go Pro Hero 7

  • This go pro is a great addition to our camera bag as it not only helps with vlogging but whenever we are wanting to capture behind the scenes footage of our shoots.

  • Another great feature this camera has is that it shoots 4k video making it super clean and up to date with our other cameras quality

  • The down side of this go pro is that the battery is a plug in, the camera tends to be more shaky if not mounted, and the sound quality is poor as well as their touch screen having limited options. Although there are downsides if looking for a simple back up camera to shoot behind the scenes or to test out video it gets the job done.

Lenses

Sigma 24-70mm

  • I love love love this lens for my Sony A7R III!! This is a great lens for portraits all the way up to full body shots, and scenic photos as well. With its wide range and close detail shots it is perfect for any type of photography.

  • The Sigma 24-70mm features a rounded 11 blade diaphragm which creates an attractive blur to the out of focus areas of the image. This gives a beautiful bokeh effect.

  • I highly recommend this lens to anyone looking for a simple and easy lens that is extremely versatile and long lasting.

Nikkor 35mm

  • I fell in love with the all-around capabilities of the AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm.

This lens is a must have for any DX-format DSLR shooter, this compact, lightweight prime lens will help you get great images at any skill level.

  • The 35mm focal length is ideal for a classic “natural” angle of view. With a fast f/1.8 aperture, you can focus sharply on your subjects in low light and create beautifully blurred backgrounds.

  • The only downside of this lens is that although it is great you only can create limited art. What I mean with this is that the lens is only good for portrait photography and up close captures. With that being said I would not recommend this lens to people starting out but more of an addition to your lenses due to the limited focal length.

Tamron 70-200mm

  • This lens is a complete life changer!! It has such a range that it's perfect to capture almost everything.

  • I highly recommend this lens to everyone looking to get into photography. Not only is this a great lens for capturing portraits but it's great for sports, nature, animals, and pretty much everything.

  • The only downside to this lens is that since it's so zoomed when capturing your images you may have to back up a bit more than you would. I would not recommend this lens if you're looking to do studio work.

    Nikon 50-250 Z

  • Nice starter zoom lens good for family portraits & nature.

  • This lens is great for zoom but does not do the best in darker light settings.

  • Good for beginners but would upgrade to the Tamron 70-200mm for better bokeh effect and lighting situations.

    Nikkor Z DX 16-50mm

  • This lens has great range for beginners and does great for family portrait sessions.

  • A very light weight lens perfect for traveling

  • This lens does have a downside of distorting faces or things due to its wide range if close.

Other Items

FTZ Adaptor

  • This adaptor works great for z mount cameras using Nikon's F mount lenses.

  • Only negative about this adapter is that it is a bit pricey but based on its smoothness to work with lenses it is worth it.

XC-M528K Tripod

  • After lots and lots of tripods and wasted time and money we came across this tripod and let me tell you it is worth it!!

  • This tripod has so many features most don't and I can truly say that this is the only tripod I have purchased that I feel safe putting my zoom lens and camera on completely. This tripod is not only sturdy when low but at max height it remains its sturdiness.

  • The only downfall with this tripod unfortunately is its price. Yes it's worth the money of course but it is on the tougher side of items that may be more in the long run rather than the start.

Weebill Gimbal

  • This gimbal has improved us not only as photographers but videographers. If you are looking to get into videography this product is the one for you.

  • This Gimbal allows for high quality smoothness and an outstanding outcome for your clients. With its lightweight and easy set up it is perfect to carry around and allows for comfortability when filming.

  • The only downside to this product is that it is a work in progress. You will not be able to pick it up and know exactly how to work it and learn all its features in one day. However when you do get the hang of it it is extremely worth all the hard work and time you put into it.

HGX Prime 52mm CPL Filter Polarizer

  • This polarizer works wonders that editing can't do!

  • If you like to shoot in bright environments this product is by far a must have.

  • Budget may be a bit on the higher end however it's not too bad for a product that will help you in the long run.

MacBook Pro 16 inch 2021 i9 16GB

  • After putting our MacBook air 13 inch 2017 i7 8GB to the test and it almost “taking off” as we liked to say we knew it was time for an upgrade.

  • This computer has helped so much with the storage and downloading part of being a photographer and I would highly recommend it to any photographers that are looking for a high end portable computer.

  • The only downside of this computer is that since it is on the bigger side it does not fit in the camera bag and is a bit harder to travel with everyday.

MacBook 14 inch 2021 M1 Pro 16 GB

  • This computer is perfect When it comes to a clean and visible screen that allows for photo quality to really show.

  • This computer is better for traveling due to its size and is perfect when downloading and storing all your photographs.

  • There aren't many downsides to this computer and it is definitely worth the money difference from the 13 as the quality is top tier.

Extras

Satechi Slim Aluminum Type C Multiport Pro Adapter

  • Unfortunately the new apple computers do not contain the SD card port anymore so this piece is a MUST for downloading your photos.

  • It's a great adapter and doesn't take up a lot of room, does the job and I have not had a problem with it.

Fuji film Ins-tax Mini 90 Classic Instant Camera (Brown)

  • Great for additional film photos.

  • Super easy to work and love the aesthetic and color of the camera.

Platinum™ - Universal Wireless Shutter Control

  • Addition to our Sony camera when it's on the tripod.

  • Very compact and light easy to travel with.

  • Great storage, and import to export storage is very fast.

  • highly recommend over a flash drive
